The Best Toddler Travel Bed? Hiccapop vs Jetkids CloudSleeper
Planning a trip with your little ones and have some questions about sleeping arrangements? I think we can all agree that it is super important to ensure they have a comfortable place to sleep. However, finding extra space and beds in a hotel room can be challenging. This is where portable toddler travel beds come in super handy.
There are many options on the market, but after traveling with my toddlers internationally countless times and testing them out, I have narrowed it down to two of the best toddler travel beds available. The Hiccapop and the Jetkids Stokke CloudSleeper are both great options, but they serve your needs slightly differently.
Here is my comparison of these two inflatable toddler travel beds so you can decide on the best one for your little one’s next vacation.
The Best Toddler Travel Bed? Hiccapop vs Jetkids CloudSleeper
Jetkids by Stokke and Hiccapop Overview
Jetkids by Stokke and Hiccapop are two highly regarded brands that offer innovative travel gear for children. You may have heard about the JetKids by Stokke BedBox, a ride-on suitcase that can be converted into a small bed on an airplane. It is super compact and kids seem to love traveling with it. Hiccapop gained recognition for its infant and toddler merchandise such as a travel booster seat, and portable playpens.
After extensively testing and trying out various similar air mattresses, I found that the toddler travel beds made by these companies were the best. Let’s start by comparing each product in detail so you can choose the perfect toddler travel bed for your little ones’ next trip.
- Best Compact Toddler Travel Bed: Stokke Cloudsleeper
- Best Overall Toddler Travel Bed: Hiccapop Toddler Travel Bed
1. Size
As a frequent traveler with my kids, I prefer to pack light when traveling abroad to avoid the hassle of carrying heavy bags during long travel days. That’s why I choose the Jetkids Stokke Cloudsleeper as the go-to toddler travel bed for international travel. It’s fab, and packs super small. If you have the JetKids by Stokke BedBox it’ll fit perfectly inside. If you’re sharing a room, you can create a darker sleep environment for your little one by using the Slumberpod.
But when we travel to grandma’s house or rent an Airbnb for a weekend, trunk space is not an issue, and we don’t have to worry about the weight limit. That’s why I chose the Hiccapop toddler travel bed. Throw on a sheet over the mattress like I did, or bring a sleeping bag, either way, it makes for a great sleeping arrangement. For more detailed information on the size of each toddler travel bed, see the dimensions below.

2. Sound
The Stokke CloudSleeper tends to produce a lot of noise, which can be quite loud and crinkly. The other one, the Hiccapop toddler travel bed, is comparatively quieter. However, I found that the noise from the Hiccapop bed could be reduced by putting a sheet over its mattress. Unfortunately, despite trying different methods to help with the loudness of the CloudSleeper, nothing seemed to make a notable difference.
Therefore, if you prefer a quieter option for your little one who is easily disturbed by noise, I would highly recommend the Hiccapop toddler travel bed over the CloudSleeper.
3. Bumpers
The Hiccapop inflatable air mattress is a game changer and has great bumpers all around, making it an ideal toddler travel bed. Moreover, it caters to toddlers aged 18 months and above, a notable contrast to Stokke’s recommendation for children aged 36 months and older. Having tall bumpers is one of the most important things to me when it comes to choosing a toddler travel bed because my son sleeps like a starfish and tosses and turns all night. The bumpers also serve as a nice little reminder to my son that he’s on the edge and needs to scoot inwards.
The Stokke Cloudsleeper bumpers were not high enough to provide the necessary barrier for my son, so I decided to keep the Hiccapop, which has exceeded my expectations and given me peace of mind knowing that my little one is sleeping soundly and safely. This safety makes the Hiccapop a top choice for a great toddler travel bed.
4. Smell
When it comes to smell, both the Hiccapop and Jetkids Stokke Cloud Sleeper toddler travel beds had some odor to them. The Hiccpop had a slight “plasticky” smell, but I was able to air it out for a bit and the smell subsided. However, this shouldn’t be a concern if you plan on using the bed outdoors for camping or other outdoor activities. On the other hand, the Jetkids Stokke Cloud Sleeper did not have any noticeable plastic smell.
5. Pump
It’s worth noting that there is a major difference between the Hiccapop and the Jetkids Stokke Cloud Sleeper- the pump. The Cloudsleeper features an innovative, hidden, manual pump built into it, which can be a bit of a workout when inflating the toddler travel bed with your hands or feet. However, this also means that you won’t have to worry about bringing a converter for the electric plug if you’re traveling abroad.
On the other hand, the Hiccapop comes with an electric pump that is incredibly easy to use, making inflating and deflating the toddler travel bed a breeze.
In Conclusion
After researching, we found the best inflatable bed for our needs to be the Hiccapop toddler travel bed. It’s well-built, has safety rails all around, and my son finds it comfy. Our family is tall, so the fact that it’s longer was another factor in our decision. The price point is also reasonable, as it is under $100 and has a warranty!
