However, if you’re looking for a more permanent crib option, you might want to consider other choices.

While the Guava Lotus travel crib has many excellent features, it’s essential to address some imperfections before deciding whether it’s worth purchasing.

Mattress Comfort

The most common complaint about the Guava Lotus travel crib is that the mattress is small and somewhat firm. However, this shouldn’t be a deal breaker.  It’s made to be safe for the baby to sleep on! It’s sturdy and looks sufficient for the child’s comfort. We didn’t have any issues with it.

Cold Draft

Since the crib sits on the ground, there’s a potential for cold drafts. To keep your baby cozy, consider using a thicker sleep sack and dressing them in long-sleeved pajamas.

Sometimes we used the pack and play provided by the hotels and it was fine,  but other times they were dirty, old, or took forever to arrive—such a hassle when you’re exhausted from traveling and just want to get your little one to bed.

Check It: Attach an identifiable tag so you can quickly spot it among many similar-looking black bags. Inform the airline workers that it’s fragile to ensure careful handling. Though you might have to wait a bit longer at baggage claim, the extra protection is worth it. We often checked it in, as many airlines allow you to check a stroller, car seat, and one piece of luggage when traveling with an infant. (Always double-check with your airline.)

Put It in a Suitcase: Use a large roller suitcase for extra packing capacity and ease of transport.

Carry It On: The Guava Lotus travel crib fits in most overhead bins quite easily. We never had an issue with it. The bag is compact and can be worn as a backpack, making it convenient for hands-free travel.
