Is Slumberpod Worth It? Honest Slumberpod Review
The very first vacation we took my daughter on I was concerned about sharing a hotel room with her. She was used to sleeping in her own room, with blackout curtains, a sound machine, and her own space. The vacation was going to be amazing but one small problem – we were sharing a tiny hotel room with her. Now, I’ve seen people post about putting their babies in the closet or the bathroom but neither of those were an option. So now what? Enter Slumberpod.
The Slumberpod is made of breathable fabric and has mesh windows that enhance airflow, making it airy for your child but also completely safe and convenient. Is the Slumberpod an expensive luxury, absolutely – but, did it allow my daughter to sleep through the night while only a foot away from us – absolutely.
According to Slumberpod, it is recommended for use in ages 4 months and older up to the age of 5. It has passed all applicable juvenile product safety tests in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Pros
The pros are numerous. Here are a few:
- Monitor Pouch: A built-in pouch is perfect to fit a monitor. To be honest, it can be very finicky at times and isn’t the best, but it does allow a place to keep an eye on your little one.
- Fan Pockets: There are two fan pouches located on the top and bottom allowing for more direct airflow. Can be used with the SlumberPod Fan.
- Machine Washable: Vacations can be messy, especially when traveling to places filled with sun and sand, so being able to throw the Slumberpod into the washing machine is a huge plus.
- Total Blackout: Creates a dark environment for your child so that you don’t have to worry about light from a lamp, blinds, or TV waking them up.
- Own Space: Allows your child to have their own space within your own room. Some kids, especially toddlers, crave their own space.
- Packable: It comes in a compact, easy-to-pack travel case making it ideal to throw in a suitcase or carry-on bag.
- Safety: Made of breathable mesh fabric, the product is safe even for the youngest travelers.
Cons
The Slumberpod does have a few cons but nothing that we personally felt was a dealbreaker. Some cons include:
- Weight: Just under 6 pounds, it does add some weight to your checked bag or carry-on luggage. This can be important to factor in so that you don’t go over the airline’s bag allowance.
- Compatibility: It is compatible with pack-n-plays, mini cribs, and toddler cots. It does not fit over standard-size cribs.
- Cost: The Slumberpod comes with a hefty price tag of $179.99 but does include free shipping. The company does offer discounts, especially around the holidays. Slumberpod Amazon offers a faster shipping with Prime membership.
- Set-Up: Setting it up is not easy. The metal poles are long and can be difficult to maneuver, especially in a small space.
How to Set up a Slumberpod
Setting up a Slumberpod can be a little tricky especially the first time, or honestly even the 100th time.
I would recommend practicing before actually going on vacation because everything is harder when you are tired from a long day of traveling with an overtired child.

The Slumberpod comes with two long poles that are threaded through the holes on the bottom and top of the canopy. While the concept seems easy, it can be tricky to manage the poles, especially in a small space.
Both my husband and I have set it up on our own but I found it to be more cumbersome. He was able to do it independently while I needed an extra set of hands.
