Babyzen Yoyo Stroller Review: What I Loved and Didn’t
Babyzen yoyo stroller is one of the best travel strollers on the market. A few key things are essential to traveling with a toddler, the most important being a travel stroller. Now the reality is, yes – you can use your everyday stroller for travel, but there are some HUGE benefits to having a specifically designated travel stroller especially when flying overseas.
Before our daughter was born I did extensive research about the type of stroller I wanted and it made sense to get one compatible with our Cosco Scenera car seat. I absolutely love our main stroller but it’s big, bulky, and is definitely not designed for flying with a toddler.
As we prepared for that first vacation I was scrolling mindlessly through Instagram one night and saw my favorite wedding photographer was in Europe and had her toddler son with her. I immediately messaged her asking which stroller she used because her stories mentioned how much she loved it. This was the first time I heard about the Babyzen YoYo stroller.
Shortly after doing my own research and realizing this was a great option for our family, I saw another Instagram story about how a family gate checked their stroller for an international flight only to find out that the stroller wasn’t delivered to the jetbridge.
Rather, the family had to pick up the stroller at the baggage claim. I thought about having to carry my daughter through the airport, immigration, and customs – all while carrying our other travel bags. This literally seemed like my worst nightmare.
This was yet another red flag and another sign to get a travel stroller that would precisely fit in the overhead compartment on an airplane. Babyzen Yoyo stroller was our travel stroller of choice, so let’s talk about the pros and the cons of traveling with it.

Babyzen Yoyo Stroller Review: What I Loved and Didn’t
Babyzen YoYo stroller Dimensions
The Babyzen YOYO 2 is an ideal travel stroller for flying with a toddler. It’s compact, lightweight, fits in a backpack, and is easy to use. Specific measurements include:
- Weight: 13.6 lbs (6.2 kg) in the 6+ version, 14.5 lbs (6.6 kg) with the newborn pack, or 17.8 lbs (8.1 kg) with the bassinet.
- The basket supports up to 11 lbs (5 kg).
- Folded stroller dimensions: 52 x 44 x 18 cm / 20.5 x 17.3 x 7.1 in
- Unfolded stroller dimensions: 106 x 44 x 86 cm.
There are several travel strollers available on the market but I have found the Babyzen YOYO2 to be the best option. Here is my honest review of this toddler travel gear.
7 Pros of Babyzen Yoyo Stroller
The pros of the Babyzen YOYO2 are endless for traveling with a toddler. Here are just a few:
- Fits in the overhead compartment on a plane: This was the most crucial factor for me when choosing a travel stroller. The Babyzen YOYO2 fits in an easy-to-use backpack and perfectly fits in the overhead compartments on an airplane.
- 1. Lightweight: The stroller weighs 13.6 pounds with no additions. Or, 14.5 lbs with the newborn pack and 17.8 lbs with the bassinet.
- 2. High weight limit: The stroller is designed to safely accommodate children up to 48.5 pounds.
- 3. Newborn capabilities: While I didn’t use this feature, it is available for use with newborns. For an additional cost ($180 on Amazon), you can purchase the bassinet and attachments to clip in (some) car seats.
- 4. Recline: If you’re wondering if the yoyo lies flat, then I have great news for you. The Babyzen YOYO2 has a recline feature that allows for a completely flat lay-back. Ideal for naps on the go.
- 5. Sunshade: The overhead canopy has an anti-UV SPF 50+ feature and water-repellent technology.
- 6. Durability: This stroller is extremely popular in Europe for its ability to navigate city streets, the beach, and cobblestones.
- 7. Versatility: While I initially purchased this stroller for flying with a toddler, it now has become our everyday stroller for activities, adventures, and daily life. Highly recommend packing the Babyzen YOYO2 when traveling internationally.
Cons of Babyzen Yoyo Stroller
The Babyzen YOYO2 does have a few cons but nothing that deterred me from making this important purchase. Some cons include:
- 1. Sunshade: Yes, this is a pro but I also found it to be a con. The sunshade is short and it doesn’t cover the lower half of my child’s body. This can be frustrating in the rain or extreme sun.
- 2. Cost: The stroller is not cheap. The base model is $499. Everything else is extra which can be frustrating. For example, the travel backpack is $75. A cup holder is $30 and the leg rest is $40. These “extras”, some of which are needed especially for traveling with a toddler, can quickly drive the price up.
- 3. Opening the stroller: The Babyzen YOYO2 brags about the ability to snap open and do it quickly and with one hand. Personally, I haven’t been able to conquer this but I have seen other moms on the go doing this.
- 4. Small(er) basket: The basket can hold up to 11 pounds but it is not big enough to fit a diaper bag or even a larger purse. This can be frustrating when out and about.

Babyzen YOYO Stroller Travel Bag
The travel stroller bag/backpack is a must-have for anyone who is planning on flying with a toddler with this stroller. The backpack comes at an additional cost ($75) which can be frustrating given the already higher price of the stroller.
The backpack comes with a two-year warranty and is designed to be carried on your shoulder or as a backpack. There is a pocket in the front of the backpack that can fit a few small items and also has a back strap that allows you to attach it to your suitcase. It is compatible with both the YOYO2 and YOYO+.

In Conclusion
Overall, the Babyzen YOYO stroller is an excellent albeit expensive travel stroller. While I have continued to say how amazing it is when flying with a toddler, it also is an excellent everyday stroller option, especially with the addition of the newborn pack.
I found their website to be extremely helpful with several easy-to-navigate video tutorials. Like any travel gear, I would recommend practicing opening and closing and putting it into the backpack before traveling with a toddler.
